Hello beautiful, welcome to my blog! This is my very first post and I’m dedicating it to you for reading. If you want to know more about my blog, you can visit the about page and get a glimpse of what to expect from me
So getting on, I know many of us have been and are still struggling to get that glow up. Yeap! That beautiful spark that turns heads and leaves a “wow she’s pretty” statement.
To be like that girl you saw on social media who despite not having makeup on, still looks bomb as hell. And to top it all up, she’s filter-free!! It can be a confidence killer and a self-esteem buster. I know. Most of us are affected like that.
One thing that should be clear to you is that YOU’RE NOT THE ONLY ONE who has been struggling with getting the glow up and wishes to get better at femininity. It’s true that you bathe and dress up like a girl but there’s just something missing. And I’m about to show you ways you can change that in this post.
Before seeing the “glow up checklist”, you should keep in mind that you’re already a bomb. You’re a very beautiful person. You’re pretty and smart and can achieve anything you want. Regardless of what you’ve been told, everyone is beautiful in their own special way and if a bunch of sorry people can’t see that, then it’s their loss. Always walk with your head high like you own the damn universe!
Here’s your GLOW UP CHECKLIST.
1: UNDERSTAND YOURSELF BETTER.
The first thing you should do is understand yourself better. Meaning what you like, love, the styles that you’re into, what you like doing, experiment with your favorite colors, and so on. When you understand yourself better it will be easier for you to get the kind of glow-up you need. Do not try to do what every other person is doing just because “everyone is doing it”. Rather, find yourself and be your own person with things that you love and suit you.
- What kind of person are you?
- What are you into?
- What you want/need
- Things that attract you/don’t
- How you hold a conversation
- How you handle emotions
2: BE CONFIDENT AND POSITIVE.
Confidence and positivity are one of the sexiest things you could ever wear. When you’re confident about yourself and the things you do, you become more beautiful. No matter your size or body type, confidence is key. It portrays you as a very poised and deserving person. So work on your confidence and start thinking positively in everything. Be confident in the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you sit, even the way you stay silent. Just be confident and you’ll see how prettier you become.
- Train your mind
- Always look and think positively.
- Do things you’re scared of doing.
- Go places you usually can’t go alone.
You can refer to the song miss independent by Ne-yo! See? Get my point now?
3: BE NICE TO PEOPLE.
I’ve never heard of a person who likes rude and impolite people (correct me if I’m wrong). Being nice to other people is a bonus. It makes you a good person. A good heart radiates from within and makes you a beautiful person.
Do not go copying rude people you see in movies or read in novels just because you like the character or because the people you hang out with are rude. Being nice to people doesn’t mean you have to tolerate it when others are being rude and mean to you. Stand up for yourself whenever necessary.
- Help the needy
- Don’t look down on others
- Talk to everyone
- Treat everyone equally.
- Be social.
4: BE INDEPENDENT
Give up asking people for random and unnecessary favors and learn to do them on your own. If they can, so can you! Do things on your own and don’t depend on other people (especially men) for money and other materials. Let these things come from them as a way of “spoiling you” when they want, not because you ask for stuff. Don’t let anyone have the audacity to say “I gave her that, I bought you this, and you wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for me”.
- Pay your own bills
- Get a job/Start a business.
- Do things on your own.
- Learn new things.
5: EAT HEALTHY AND EXERCISE
I know the idea of healthy meals doesn’t fit quite right with most of us. Somehow junks, take outs and street food are just more delicious and better. You debate between a juicy fried chicken and blunt spinach. It’s hectic. But healthy foods are good for the body and your health. When you eat healthily, you avoid unnecessary weight gain, skin breakouts, and diseases, and to top it all up you add regular exercises.
- Exercise 3-5 times a week
- Keep your junks only for cheat days.
- Eat at reasonable hours for better digestion.
- Get a food timetable/routine
- Use green tea.
6: DRINK PLENTY OF WATER AND FRUITS.
Water is medicine and also a beauty secret. Why do you think when you get sick the doctor tells you to drink plenty of water? Beauticians say water is a good remedy for clear skin and other skin associated problems. I read an article once that says to consume fruits that are rich in water like watermelons, citrus, and pineapples because water that comes from the fruits is better than normal water because it has all sorts of minerals and vitamins. So why not do both?
- Drink lemon/cucumber water
- Eat more fruits during lunch than dinner.
- Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day
- Have natural juice instead of packed.
7: HAVE A PROPER SHOWER.
Yes! There actually is a way to get a proper shower. Don’t just stand in the shower, apply soap then rinse and you’re done. NO! You need to take care of your body and pamper it with love. A proper shower nourishes your skin and makes it beautiful and mesmerizing. Make sure you smell so nice after leaving the shower, you feel like you have applied your perfume.
- Shave several times a week/wax.
- Exfoliate using body scrubs
- Use perfumed body wash and soap
- Apply your lotion on damp skin. Not dry.
8: WEAR GOOD CLOTHES.
If you want to look nice, beautiful, smart and polished, you need to wear good clothes. Wearing good clothes doesn’t mean buying expensive clothes or designer brands. You can wear thrifts and still look so good. there is nothing wrong with wearing second-hand clothes as long as they are nice and comfortable for you. don’t wear some types of clothes that don’t compliment you just because it’s a trend and everyone is wearing them.
- Wear comfortable clothes
- Switch colors.
- Experiment with your body.
- Choose styles for your figure.
9: GET A SKINCARE ROUTINE.
Take care of your face! We all know how facial skin knows to retaliate and make us fall. You should invest in your skin because it’s something that everyone looks at. A skincare routine will be very helpful in dealing with issues such as acne and other skin related problems. Some skin types like oily skin are prone to acne and need much care and attention.
- Wash your face at least twice daily.
- Use face masks
- Use silk pillowcases
- Use toner and a moisturizer for your skin type
10: MAKEUP AND NAILS.
Learning to do your own makeup can come in handy when you need a little color. You don’t need to wear makeup every day or every time and you definitely don’t need to go all out on it, just learn a simple natural look and you’re good to go. look after your nails and keep them clean all the time. They don’t have to be long nails or polished all the time. Just clean and smart.
- Use good colors for nails
- Nails that are too long are unhygienic
- Use a natural makeup look
- Always apply lip gloss or chapstick.
- Do not overdo your makeup.
That’s it for the glow-up checklist. Please add on the things that I may have forgotten and haven’t written.
What do you think?
