Before we go, giving up should never be in your mind.
I know we’ve all been there somehow. Wanting to do something but too scared to commit to it and this voice been playing at the back of your head asking you “IF NOT NOW, WHEN?”
A few years ago (6 years ago to be precise) I was faced with very big responsibilities and decisions I had to make. To say that I was scared is an understatement.
I frequently asked myself if what I needed to do was the right thing to do. Was it worth it? Could I do it? Did I have the strength and will to do it? But I also asked myself “If I don’t do it now, when will I? If I’m not strong now, when will I be?
Then I took a huge step into doing what needed to be done. I was still young, but I was strong and that’s what kept me going. I felt like giving up a gazillion of times but something kept me going. (A story for another day)
These are questions that make us insecure about what is needed to be done. We usually think of failure before anything else. The negativity in our thoughts is what holds us back from a lot of things. Things that might actually be your pathway to freedom. Independence.
Most often, when we think of failing we think about how people will look at us. Maybe they will laugh, mock us and say they knew we wouldn’t make it in the first place.
Should that even matter?
The answer is NO!
It shouldn’t matter because IT’S YOUR JOURNEY. NOT THEIRS. I always say this. No one has the right to interfere in your journey, in your life or wherever it is you want to go and do. What you’re destined for should not depend on anyone’s view or perception of you. If they want to make a good laugh out of your trials, then it’s their problem. Not yours. Let them laugh but you my friend, need to keep it moving.
REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE
Whatever it is that you do, and when you feel like giving up, always remember who you are. Your identity in any journey is the most important thing to keep in mind. At all times
It’s easier to always remember what you want and what you need to do when you remember and embrace who you are in the first place. When you remember how hungry you are, it’s easier to find food.
“But I’ve come to the point where I’m not sure any more about just what God counts as radical. And I suspect that for me, getting up and doing the dishes when I’m short on sleep and patience is far more costly and necessitates more of a revolution in my heart than some of the more outwardly risky ways I’ve lived in the past".
And so this is what I need now
The courage to face an ordinary day. The bravery it takes to believe that a small life is still a meaningful life, and the grace to know that even when I’ve done nothing that is powerful or bold or even interesting that the Lord notices me and is fond of me and that is enough.
REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED.
“Remember why you started, remember where you’re headed, think of how great it will be to get there, and keep going”- Ralph Martson
When you feel like giving up, remember why you’re doing what you’re doing in the first place.
Are you studying so hard to become a doctor or have a prosperous career? Working hard to get your parents out of poverty? To be someone in life? To prove to yourself that you can actually be better than what you thought you couldn’t be?
No matter what your reason might be
REMEMBER WHY YOU STARTED. It’s that simple
The reason that made you start in the first place is the same reason that will keep you motivated to keep going strong and to reach where you want to reach or do what you want to do.
When you feel like quitting,
Remember that the pain you feel today will be replaced with the
Strength you need tomorrow.
Remember that every ounce of pain you feel is building a
Stronger you, a stronger body, A stronger mind, and a stronger character.
So PUSH through the pain. Don’t let it stop you. Force it to grow you.
This is a newer you, a stronger version!
Get back on track… Stick to your purpose!
Remember that the key is consistency.
The harder the battle the sweeter the victory!
Remember why you started!
Think about it every morning!
You will make it through the hardships!
If you put all of your heart in!
You didn’t come this far to quit!
And even though the world’s against you, you can handle it!
You didn’t come this far to quit!
Get back in gear! And make the shift!
You got haters to prove wrong!
There are doubters to prove wrong!
There are dreams to move on!
Don’t let them go to waste!
So that thing that you’re working on…
Don’t quit half way and let somebody else come and take your place!
KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE
You see that goal you set? Baby that’s your prize. Aim for it
It’s the most rewarding feeling ever!
Remember in school when you study so hard for an exam and finally ace it? I’m sure it made you feel like you can do anything better and bigger.
Just remember, “the harder the battle, the sweeter the victory”.
You’re definitely not doing all this hard for nothing. You’re aiming at something so beautiful
So if not now, when?
You’re capable of doing it right now and start where you are.
When you start doubting yourself, you keep yourself down. God didn’t create you to be afraid. On the contrary, he wants you to be strong and aim so high for your goals and dreams. He believes in your strength and abilities to make most of what he gave you. YOUR MIND.
START NOW. START WITH WHAT YOU HAVE AND WHERE YOU ARE.
See this conversation.
Hanna: you seem so focused all the time. I don’t understand how you can devote so much time to studying.
Leah: well, it’s simple really. I want to become a doctor. It’s always been my dream. In order to have the best chance of accomplishing it, I have to keep my eyes on the prize. If I let myself get distracted with other things, I might lose track of my goal
See? Do you think Leah will reach her goal of becoming a doctor if she stops being determined? Hardly.
LET YOUR HATERS BE YOUR MOTIVATORS
Yep! You read that right.
Anyone who doesn’t love your success and doesn’t celebrate your victories is a hater and a $hitty person. Period
We don’t want to be around these kinds of people yhoo! The negative energy they bring is just dark and we all white over here! Lights only sir. They make you feel weak and start feeling like giving up.
Do you see those people who be hating on you for no reason? Trust me, there’s definitely a reason! You have something greater than them. You have things they don’t and most importantly, you can do amazing things they can’t do in a million #ucking years. My friend, You have that power they long for.
FACT; Haters don’t really hate you. In fact, they hate themselves because you’re a reflection of what they wish to be
Remind yourself that comments from a hater are a reflection of them and aren’t really about you. People who feel good about themselves don’t need to put others down
So when they start telling you that you can’t, take it upon yourself to go and do beyond expectations.
And no, you’re not trying to prove to them. You’re just making the most out of their negativity.
As humans, sometimes we need a little push. We need to be told that we can’t do certain things to go lengths in trying to do them.
So you think I can’t run every day for a whole month huh? Watch me.
Something like that
What I want to say is to stop worrying. Stop being fearful. Your faith is supposed to be greater than your fear because that particular fear is what makes you feel like giving up. Fear is just an illusion and grows bigger and feeds on your negative thoughts and weaknesses.
Don’t let this parasite feed on you. You’re strong and capable of doing and being whatever and whoever you want. Believe in yourself. 😉
